Review-You Were Born for This, by Bruce Wilkinson.
Several years ago, the publishing world was surprised by the incredible success of a small book based on one small scripture. The Prayer of Jabez became a huge all-round best seller, as it seemed this little book resonated with nearly everyone that read it. Wilkinson has been out of the book business for a while – he and his family spent a number of years ministering in South Africa – but he’s back with a new title and a somewhat familiar theme.
In my (not-always-so) humble opinion, the reason Jabez was popular is that it struck a very prominent spiritual chord – that one that frequently asks questions like “what’s it all about?” and “is that all there is?”. The Prayer of Jabez” spoke to that part of our being that wants to know there is meaning in our lives. Wilkinson presented a picture of prayer as a partnership with God in a work that He had planned for us. It wasn’t so much that we were asking God to give us stuff, but that we were asking him to use us.
In a similar fashion, Wilkinson’s newest book – You Were Born for This continues the theme. The basic thesis is that we are intended to be God’s instrument for ministry & miracles in the lives of others, and we can train ourselves to discern the signals of God’s guidance. Using many personal illustrations and stories, the author builds his case that we should be prepared and excited to be a part of God’s miracle-working to those around us.
So many struggle with the spiritual deadness of a life lived primarily to suit themselves. I believe this book will be a spark to those who will take the message to heart and begin to purposefully look for that leading of the Holy Spirit – leading to blessing and miracles in the lives of others. This book is The Prayer of Jabez taken to the next step.

Summary
His New York Times phenomenon The Prayer of Jabez changed how millions pray. Now Bruce Wilkinson wants to change what they do next.
Anyone can do a good deed, but some good works can only happen by a direct intervention from God. Around the world these acts are called miracles—not that even religious people expect to see one any time soon. But what would happen if millions of ordinary people walked out each morning expecting God to deliver a miracle through them to a person in need? You Were Born for This starts with the dramatic premise that everyone at all times is in need of a miracle, and that God is ready to meet those needs supernaturally through ordinary people who are willing to learn the “protocol of heaven.”
In the straightforward, story-driven, highly motivating style for which he is known, Wilkinson describes how anyone can be a “Delivery Guy” from heaven in such universally significant arenas of life as finances, practical help, relationships, purpose, and spiritual growth.
You Were Born for This will change how readers see their world, and what they expect God can do through them to meet real needs. They will master seven simple tools of service, and come to say with confidence, “I want to deliver a supernatural gift from God to someone in need today—and I expect to!”
